Local knowledge

The outer reef is expensive. If you are budget conscious, a beginner, or not that confident in the water, an island snorkel on a cheaper day tour is the better value. If you have your heart set on the famous open-ocean reef, though, do not book an island snorkel by mistake, as people who do are always disappointed.
