About ZigZag Whitsundays

ZigZag Whitsundays is a local family business based in Airlie Beach. They’ve been running boat tours since 2017.
The owners, Nicole and Ben, live right here in the Whitsundays. Nicole is a marine scientist who loves the ocean and works hard to protect the reef. Ben makes sure all the boats run safely and smoothly.

You’ll travel on their boat called Super Flyer. It’s a big, fast catamaran that fits 80 people. The boat has air conditioning inside when you get hot. There are also sun lounges on deck where you can relax and enjoy the views.

What makes ZigZag special is their unlimited water taxi service. This means you can go back and forth between the boat and the beach as many times as you want. No other tour does this!

The crew are friendly and know the islands really well. They’ll tell you interesting stories about the area and make sure you have a great day.

ZigZag cares about the environment. They work with reef protection programs and have won awards for their eco-friendly tours.

About Fly Australia Charters

Fly Australia (also called FlyAus) runs scenic flights from Whitsunday Airport. The airport is at Flametree, just 5 minutes from Airlie Beach town.

Their planes range from 13 seaters to 5 seater aircraft and are comfortable. Every person gets a window seat, so everyone can see the amazing views and take photos.

The pilot will talk to you through a headset during the flight. They’ll point out important sights and answer your questions. The pilots know the area very well and have lots of flying experience.
Before your flight, you can wait in their passenger lounge. It has air conditioning, free water, toilets, and places to charge your phone.

FlyAus offers free pickup from two spots in Airlie Beach. They’ll pick you up 40 minutes before your flight time. Just be ready on time!

The flight takes about 60-70 minutes. You’ll fly over Heart Reef, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet, and the Great Barrier Reef. It’s one of the most popular scenic flights in Australia.
You can take as many photos as you want during the flight. Don’t forget your camera or phone!

Can I do the boat tour and flight on the same day?

No, you cannot do both tours on the same day. You need to do them on different days. This is due to dpeartrure and return time constraints.

How does booking work?

When you book online, you choose the date for your Scenic Fligh with Fly Australia Charters. After you pay, you’ll get an email with instructions to book your boat tour date with ZigZag Whitsundays. 

How much does it cost?

The combo package starts from around $469 per person. This is cheaper than booking the boat tour and flight separately. Prices may change, so check the booking page for current rates.

What time do the tours start?

The boat tour meets at 8:20am at Coral Sea Marina and leaves at 9am. You get back around 5pm. For the flight, you choose your time when you book it separately. Pickup is 40 minutes before your flight time.

Where do I meet for each tour?

Boat tour: Coral Sea Marina, Airlie Beach (Meeting Point D)
Scenic flight: They pick you up from Airlie Beach, or you can go directly to Whitsunday Airport at Flametree.

What if the weather is bad?

If the weather is unsafe for flying, Fly Australia will contact you about 1-2 hours before your flight. You can change to a different day or get a refund. The boat tour also gets cancelled in bad weather, and you can either reschedule or get a refund.

Can I bring my camera?

Yes! Bring your camera or phone for both tours. You’ll want lots of photos. On the plane, only bring a small bag that fits in your pockets. You can leave bigger bags at their office.

Is this tour good for kids?

Yes! Families love this combo. Kids aged 4 and up pay a children’s rate. Kids under 4 go free on the boat tour. For the flight, babies under 2 can sit on your lap with a special baby seatbelt.

Do I need to be a good swimmer?

With snorkeling, basic swimming helps, but they provide life jackets and stinger suits. The crew will help you.
